β€’2 Bay Leaves
β€’1 tsp Bouillon or Soup Base
β€’2/3 cups Carrots - Chopped
β€’1/2 cup Celery- Chopped
β€’1 cup Dried Navy Beans
β€’1 tsp Dried Thyme
β€’6 oz. Ham- Chopped
β€’1 cup Onion- Chopped
β€’Pepper to taste
β€’8 cups Water- Divided

Cooking Instructions

    Bring beans and 4 cups of water to a boil.Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 2 minutes.

    Remove from heat, cover and soak for 1 hour.

    Drain and rinse.

    Add remaining water and ingredients.Bring to a boil then reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 1 1/4 hours covered.

    Remove bay leaves. Stir well- mashing some beans to thicken soup.
